Security

  1. Cash – Never carry large amounts of cash; use online tools such as PayPal, Zelle, Venmo, and other such applications to transact. Avoid checks of all types – personal, cashiers, or money orders.
  2. Meeting– Always meet during the day and when possible meet in public places to complete your transactions. If you have to go to someone’s place try to bring a companion with you. The same applies if and when someone is coming to your house, try and have a friend/ companion with you.
  3. Buddy System – If you have to go to someone’s place to complete the transaction always notify a friend or family member with where you are going and also let them know when you return safely. The same should also apply if someone is coming to your house.
  4. Instincts – Always be extra careful and trust your instincts; if something doesn’t feel right it probably isn’t. Take extra measures to protect yourself and your surroundings.
  5. Common Sense – No set of rules are ever all inclusive; make sure to use caution in every transaction that you engage in.

The above is not a complete list of precautions, rather just some suggestions. Please, always make sure that you take caution in all interactions with strangers. Your personal safety should always be your primary concern!
